The problem with keys

Keys work until somebody leaves. Then you either trust that every copy came back, or you change the locks and reissue keys to everyone. Most businesses quietly choose the first option, which is how offices end up not really knowing who can get in.

Access control replaces that with something you can actually manage. Someone leaves, you revoke their credential in seconds. Someone needs weekend access, you grant it for that weekend. And you have a record of who entered and when.

This is where access control frequently pays for itself. The same reader that unlocks the door records when people arrive and leave, and that data can feed your time attendance and payroll process.

For businesses still collecting timesheets manually, or running a separate attendance clock alongside a separate door system, this removes an entire administrative task and a second piece of hardware. Hours come from the door people already walk through.

Biometrics and the PDPA

Fingerprint data is personal data, and it is more sensitive than most — a staff member can be issued a new access card, but not a new fingerprint. Under the Personal Data Protection Act that brings real obligations around consent, purpose, security and retention.

We advise on these as part of the installation: what to tell staff, what consent looks like, whether biometrics are the right choice for your situation, and what to do with the data when someone leaves. Some businesses conclude that cards or mobile access serve them just as well with far less obligation attached — and if that is the honest answer for you, we will say so. What we cover

We install and maintain door controllers — office doors, entrances and internal doors where access needs restricting. We do not currently handle gates, turnstiles or car park barriers.

Door access pairs naturally with CCTV, and many clients install both so entry records and footage cover the same doorway. The two systems are supplied and supported by the same team, on the same visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can the system handle staff attendance as well as door access?

Yes. Entry and exit records can feed your time attendance and payroll process, which removes manual timesheets and the need for a separate clocking machine.

Do we need fingerprint readers, or are cards enough?

It depends on what you are protecting. Biometrics cannot be lent or lost, but they carry heavier PDPA obligations. For plenty of offices cards or mobile access are the more sensible choice, and we will tell you which fits your situation.

What happens when an employee leaves?

Their credential is revoked immediately — no changing locks, no wondering whether every copied key came back. Access ends the moment you say it does.

Do you install gates or car park barriers?

Not at present. We install and maintain door controllers for office and internal doors.
